HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer)

HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer)

B.A. Special Chem & Color offers a wide choice of radical inhibitors with different basicities depending on the formulation needs.

Uses and classifications

The HALS – Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers – are derivatives of tetramethyl piperidines whose purpose is to trap free radicals once they are formed due to the photo-oxidation process. HALS are useful for preventing surface defects such as loss of gloss, cracking of the polymer film or chalking (in painting systems).

Over the years, different types of HALS have been developed with different degrees of basicity to be more similar and compatible with the pH of the various systems to be protected.
